I'm almost 5 months into my exclusively pumping journey with baby Asher. So I thought I would share my favorite products and what I keep on hand. You might ask why I pump instead of latch? After I had London I didn't produce enough milk with her. I was lucky to get 10 ounce a day, so I pumped for four months with her and supplemented with formula.
When I had Asher I feared that I wouldn't make
enough milk this time either. So to give myself
pease of mind I pump and give him a bottle.
Which has worked out the best for our family.
My favorite products for exclusively pumping.
A good pump. I actually have tried three different pumps and the Spectra and Elvie work the best for me. I always start my day by using the spectra and end my day using the spectra as it empties me the best. I tried the Ameda but didn't respond well to it at all.
The right flange size. I still think this might be a big reason why I wasn't successful after having London. I definitely didn't have the right flange size. I use Maymom 17mm inserts for my Elvie and Maymom also make 17mm Flanges for the spectra.
Ductbill valves- If you're exclusively pumping I recommend changing these at least once a month or soon if you notice your supply is dropping.
Other things to have on hand. Nipple cream or you can use coconut oil. I preferred coconut oil and would rub some on the inside of the flange when I was pumping for the first couple of weeks. Milk storage bags. I love the Lanisnoh breastmilk storage bags the best.
And the most important thing a hands free pumping bra. I love this one from Target. With my Elvie pump I love Senita Nursing bra. The Elvie pump fits perfect in it.
