Looking for an amazing way to use your sourdough discard? Look no further! Try this simple sourdough discard sandwich bread recipe. It will take you about 4 hours from start to finish.
The more I make my own sourdoough discard sandwich bread the more I never want to buy bread from the store again. This bread makes the best grilled cheese or turkey and cheese sandwich.
INGREDIENTS
100g sourdough discard
20g sugar
10g salt
250g water
4 tbsp butter, softened
DIRECTIONS
In a bowl, combine, instant yeast, sugar, and water. Let sit until it becomes foamy.
Next add sourdough discard, butter, flour, and salt.
Add bowl back to your kitchen mixer and mix dough. Once it forms a ball knead for 3-6 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Form dough into a ball and place it back in your bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
Once the dough has risen, gently deflate it by punching down your dough.
Pull out dough to a rectangle, fold in the side and roll up. Tuck the side under and place in your 9x5 inch sprayed bread pan. Let the shaped dough rest for about one hour.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F while the dough is resting.
Optional: You can brush the tops of the bread with butter or egg wash.
Bake the dough in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack completely before cutting.

Excellent recipe. Thank you for posting. Came together quickly, felt right, smelled good. Nice first rise, surprisingly very rapid. In oven bloomed some. Buttered top and yes, I cut while it was still warm. QC you know. Fresh baked bread with homemade jam!
