Below you will find the entire recipes. Or over on Youtube I have a step by step video showing you how to make this Sourdough Discard Whole Wheat Sandwich Bread. Also this bread makes the perfect grilled cheese to go along with any soup.
INGREDIENTS
100g sourdough discard
250g whole wheat flour
250g bread flour
20g honey
10g salt
250g water
4 tbsp butter, softened
DIRECTIONS
In a bowl, combine, instant yeast, honey, and water. Let sit until it becomes foamy.
Next add sourdough discard, butter, whole wheat flour, bread flour, and salt.
Add bowl back to your kitchen mixer and mix dough. Once it forms a ball knead for 3-6 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Form dough into a ball and place it back in your bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
Once the dough has risen, gently deflate it by punching down your dough.
Pull out dough to a rectangle, fold in the side and roll up. Tuck the side under and place in your 9x5 inch sprayed bread pan. Let the shaped dough rest for about one hour.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F while the dough is resting.
Optional: You can brush the tops of the bread with butter or egg wash.
Bake the dough in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack completely before cutting.
